Q.The director said you write poetry for children and children’s books.
Oh yeah, yes I did.
Q.I read you wrote two poems for Oksana’s songs and you directed four videos?
That’s true.
Q.Are you going to help promote the album?
Oh, I think she’s a tremendous artist. She composes and writes these songs – and has a very different feeling. She’s classically trained. This gal can play Rachmaninoff and Chopin. It’s beautiful and then she writes these contemporary songs that are really quite complicated. And she writes the lyrics and I helped her with some poetry on some of the songs and they work. In fact, one of the songs that she and I wrote is on the end of this film. She sings on the credits, you can hear it. Listen to the credits, a woman comes on and sings over the credits. It’s not the whole songs, its two verses of four but I wrote the poetry and she wrote the music.
Q.What’s it called?
It’s called Say My Name
Q.Your character Craven would do anything for his family – how far would you go for your family?
Quite a way.
Q.Your first child was 29 years ago and now you have a baby – how is that? Is fatherhood different?
It is different because I’m different but the thing that isn’t different is that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over the fact that there is a little life there in front of me staring at you with complete innocence and a total angelic blamelessness. It’s phenomenal. It kills me
Q.each time?
Yes. So we’ll work with that and see if I can do it better this time. You should get better with practice. The younger ones have it easier, right?
Q.What’s she doing now?
She’s smiling.
